Local Council Election May 2019
Our manifesto for the May 2019 local council election contained 100 real policies that will improve the lives of everyone in the area: young children, teenagers, students, families, tax payers, people at work, people out of work, those looking for a decent place to live, small businesses, entrepreneurs and pensioners. Even though Poole Labour did not secure any seats on the new BCP council, through the Labour Group we will be seeking to push through a number of key policies. These will include:
-
Continuing to oppose the plans to move Poole A&E and maternity services to Bournemouth Hospital
-
Encouraging the building of 1000 truly affordable homes to rent or buy for local people
-
Introducing new rights for tenants that will guarantee property standards, rents and longer tenancies
-
Offering weekly food waste collections during the summer months
-
Reviewing the social care system and providing a minimum amount of free home care to all in need
-
Improving pothole repairs and tackling congestion and traffic delays
-
Widening the provision of public toilets
-
Regenerating the high street for local residents and visitors, and offering rate relief to small businesses in the area
-
Providing the under 25s with a free bus pass and improving youth services
-
Supporting community policing and opposing any further cuts to the number of police stations, police officers and support staff
