Celebrating 70 years of the NHS

Poole Labour took to the streets on Saturday 7 July, to mark 70 years of the NHS - introduced by the 1945 Labour government in the face of fierce opposition from the Conservatives. As part of our campaign day we asked the public to sign a birthday card to say thank you to the staff for all their efforts. Everyone who came up had a personal story of how the NHS had helped either them or someone in their family. It really is one of the best examples of socialism in action.
Later in the day, our team went to Hamworthy Park fete to spread the message. Interestingly, the Tories and Poole People also had a presence there - but they are incapable of representing the views of local people. On the doorstep in the area people are telling us they never see their councillors, but if Labour gets elected next May in the local elections, we will change all that. Come along, get involved and together we can make a real difference.
